A large pair of George V sterling silver revivalist candlesticks, London 1935 by Richard Comyns
In the 17th century manner, with spreading octagonal bases with embossed canthus leaf decoration and applied acanthus prunts. Leading to an octagonal platform with cast and applied canthus prunts and a square section knop with acanthus detail and ovolo edge, leading to a quatrefoil section column with attached quatrefoil sconce. Hollow, fully marked underneath. (2)

Just a note to say that I have been going through a few books and I stumbled upon where this unusual design of stick is from:

The pair of 1675 by a maker I.B with a crescent below is in the collection of Harthill Church in Yorkshire, they are illustrated in ‘Catalogue of Silver Treasures from English Churches – An Exhibition of Ecclesiastical Plate of Domestic Origin at Christie’s, 8 King Street, St. James’s, S.W.1, January 5 to 30, 1955’ number 125.
