With gothic style silver case, gilt dial with Roman numerals and strike mechanism, with ebonised plinth with engraved silver plaque inscribed “Presented to Franklin Richardson Kendall of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co.from his friends in Melbourne, Victoria .

The cast silver front formed with foliate scrolls, masks and a bird, the whole on four scrolling bracket feet,
